Upon the implementation of the Island Link and the Maritime Link in Newfoundland, construction of a new 190 km 230kV transmission line between Western Avalon (WAV) and Bay D’Espoir (BDE) terminal stations was required to reinforce the existing network.
Rising Edge was responsible for the construction of the new GIS Control Building, 230kV GIS ring bus with 4 breakers, switches, grounding switches and protections, and a 230kV MOD. Rising Edge was tasked with making additional modifications to the existing 230kV bus as well as constructing a new A-frame to accommodate the line addition, making relay settings changes, adding two pad mount transformers to supply GIS building, and constructing a concrete trench between old control building and GIS building
