Location of Project | Edmonton, Alberta, Canada |
Project Complete Year | November 2024 |
Project Scope |
The Genesee Generating Station repowering project, which replaced the existing coal-fired steam generators with natural gas-fired combined-cycle technology to enhance efficiency and reduce emissions. The overall project consisted of installation of two Mitsubishi gas turbines, each connected to a HRSG, existing steam turbines in Units 1 and 2 will be modified to operate with the new combined-cycle system, and bypass stacks for simple-cycle operations during transition. Final combined-cycle operation should total a capacity of 1,360MW, an increase of 560MW. Electrical output stepped up to 500kV and connected to new site substation. Lastly, by removing coal-fired equipment lead to a 60% reduction in carbon emissions. |
Rising Edge’s Scope of Work |
Design and construction of substation control building, which consisted of thirty (30) P&C Panels, twenty-three (23) Outdoor Marshalling Cabinets, four (4) AC Distribution Panels, four (4) DC Distribution Panels, two (2) Dry Type Transformers, two (2) Back Up Battery Systems, ATS, MTS, SCADA, Telecom. 10,000m of indoor control cabling and 15,000 control cable terminations. Pre-commissioning on all cabling and interior building equipment. Scope also included:
