Jason’s path into energy started with a mechanical engineering degree from Memorial University of NL, followed by over a decade at a provincial utility, moving from technical roles into Project and Program Management. He joined Rising Edge as Division Manager for Atlantic Operations, building the division into one of the region’s most trusted contractors, and became President in late 2023, focused on growing Rising Edge across North America while staying true to what makes the company work: a team-first culture and a relentless focus on getting better.
His take on what sets Rising Edge apart in a competitive industry:
“The biggest constraint on the energy transition right now isn’t technology or capital, it’s people. A lot of companies are chasing the same pool of experienced high-voltage talent, and the industry’s answer has too often been high subcontractor turnover: bringing in new, unfamiliar partners project after project instead of building the long-term relationships that actually solve the shortage. At Rising Edge, we take a different approach: the same commitment we make to our employees, we make to our subcontractors – building partnerships that last.
Meanwhile, the grid itself is changing faster than most of it was ever designed for. Interconnecting wind, solar, and battery storage isn’t plug-and-play. It requires systems built for variable, intermittent power, not the steady baseload the grid was designed around. Utilities are asking contractors to commission increasingly complex systems, often on compressed timelines, with less room for error than ever. That’s where experience stops being a nice-to-have and becomes the difference between a project going live on schedule or not.
Our competitive edge is our people. Their dedication and hands-on knowledge turn efficient processes into real results, felt at every stage of a project’s lifecycle.
That’s not just operational philosophy; it’s disruption. While much of the industry cycles through subcontractors and turns over talent project to project, Rising Edge is built on people who stay and grow their entire careers here. The person planning a project is often the same person who’s solved problems like it for years. That kind of knowledge can’t be subcontracted in, it’s earned. It’s why clients get fewer surprises, tighter timelines, and a team invested in the outcome.
That same discipline is behind Rising Edge’s growing energy portfolio; delivering high-voltage electrical solutions and infrastructure behind hundreds of megawatts of clean, reliable energy now feeding into the North American grid.”
At Rising Edge, that challenge is met with STRIDE: Safety, Teamwork, Responsibility, Integrity, Deliver, Excellence: the standard behind every project, every client relationship, and every new region we grow into.
