Jason is the President of Rising Edge Group. As the trusted leader, Jason is known for developing strategies aimed at becoming an industry leader through increasing market share, implementing systematic operational improvements, and leading the way by concentrating on the company’s identity and mission. Jason’s experience is founded on decades of energy management expertise – in engineering, project management, program management, and business operations. 

After graduating from Memorial University in Mechanical Engineering, he secured a role with Newfoundland Hydro (NL Hydro). During his over 12-year tenure with NL Hydro, Jason grew his knowledge from both a technical and applicational side to later become a Project and Program Manager for NL Hydro before joining Rising Edge as the Division Manager for the Atlantic Operations. Leading the way, he grew the division by solidifying a strong relationship with major clients and becoming one of the preferred contractors in the province and Atlantic regions. 

Since becoming President in late 2023, Jason aims at expanding the company’s reach across North America, solidifying its position as a key player within the energy infrastructure industry. With a team-centric approach and inspirational leadership, he is looking at continuing to refine what makes Rising Edge great and how we can be even better.

Justin is the Chief Operating Officer of Rising Edge Group. A steward in financial analysis, decision-making, and operational management, Justin is known for developing strategies that lead to profitable gains at a sustainable rate for growth and improvement. Justin’s high voltage knowledge and expertise is founded on an over two-decade career with Rising Edge, including years on the ground as a high voltage Journeyman Electrician before transitioning into operational management. Justin oversees the company’s day-to-day operations and ensuring the company meets its goals by developing and implementing strategies, managing finances, improving processes, and managing risks. 

As Rising Edge’s 1^st employee, Justin was a founding member of Rising Edge back when it was just a commissioning company servicing utility companies in southern Alberta. Over the past 20+ years, Justin has been instrumental in growing the business to incorporating construction, engineering, procurement services and growing into new regions across North America.  

He continues to leave a lasting mark by directing and leading the operations of the company across all 5 operational jurisdictions and leads the way to continuing to improve the performance of the company and all its employees towards a shared mission.

Janis is the Chief Financial Officer of Rising Edge Group. Janis brings a unique blend of financial expertise and industry experience to drive business growth and informed decision-making. With close to 10 years of service at Rising Edge, Janis has progressed from Project Controls to Financial Controller and now CFO, leveraging her CPA designation and Honors in Marketing and Management.

Janis has made significant contributions to the company, including standardizing revenue recognition reporting, stabilizing monthly financial reporting, supporting the transition of ownership, optimizing bank relationships, implementing a new Timesheet system, and driving the Business Intelligence initiative. Her ability to balance personal growth with excellence has earned her numerous awards, including CIAU Academic All Canadian status and recognition for her leadership in community outreach programs.

Janis approaches problem-solving with a holistic business lens, recognizing the importance of teamwork and individual contributions. She is a compassionate leader, critical thinker, and problem solver who is never satisfied with the status quo. Her goals include streamlining data systems, supporting growth in new markets, and addressing emerging ESG trends and global standards for clients. Through her expertise and dedication, Janis is poised to continue driving the company’s growth and success.

Troy is the Executive Vice President of Business Development at Rising Edge Group. As the trusted advisor to the executive and management teams, Troy is known for implementing his strong judgement, communication, and situational awareness to create and lead business strategies in support of the company’s overall mission and vision. Providing over 2 decades of expertise – he oversees all business development, marketing, and estimating efforts for the entire organization. 

He is Rising Edge’s second employee when it was first established as a commissioning company, back in 2002, that grew to add construction, engineering, fabrication, and expanded to new regions across North America. Troy started out as a Commissioning Technologist for 11 years before transitioning to an Estimator; becoming Estimating Manager and then adding business development functions to the role, and then becoming Vice President of Estimating and Business Development before becoming an Executive Vice President. Accumulating over 23 years with Rising Edge, Troy was instrumental to the continued growth from a 4-employee commissioning company to the 600+ employee EPC contractor. 

Continuing to play a pivotal role within the company, his goal is to consistently deliver the best client services while continuing to grow sustainably in new areas with new opportunities.

Richard is the Vice President of Pre-Construction at Rising Edge Group. A Professional Engineer with over twenty years of senior management, EPC design engineering, and project management experience, Richard leads all engineering efforts for the company by overseeing the management of engineering teams, maintaining high standards of quality, providing project engineering guidance on large-scale major projects across North America. Richard’s engineering experience is focused on high voltage electrical for renewables, oil and gas, and utility based civil/structural, equipment layout, and outdoor design. Additionally, provides extensive project management experience, technical assistance, and constructability knowledge of substation layouts. 

Graduating with a bachelor’s in civil engineering, Richard learned and expanded his knowledge by being a Stations Engineer and Project Manager, before branching off to create his own engineering firm, called Huntsman Engineering. This endeavor was a success as Rising Edge bought and integrated the engineering firm into its operations where Richard continued to lead and manage as the Principal Engineer before becoming Vice President. 

As Rising Edge’s leader for engineering, Richard helped grow the engineering department from a group of handful personnel to an engineering team expanding over 70 members – with functions in stations, design, P&C/SCADA, studies, transmission & distributions, telecom, etc. Richard has been recognized for his inspiring leadership and incredible knowledge which has led to Rising Edge’s engineering services growth and becoming more sought after by our clients across North America.

Andrew is the Vice President of Eastern Canada at Rising Edge Group. Bringing over a two decades of experience in the power generation and transmission industry to his role, and with a strong educational foundation in Electrical Engineering and a Senior Membership in the IEEE, Andrew has established himself as a knowledgeable and skilled professional in his field. Overseeing the business efforts of Atlantic Canada, Andrew will oversee the strategic operational growth, team development, new market entries and share growth, and establishing new clientele and opportunities for long-term success. 

Andrew has accumulated a wealth of experience, beginning as an Automation Engineer at Michelin Canada Ltd. before transitioning to consulting. He has worked on various projects with top firms like Teck Consultants, Neill & Gunter, Stantec, and Wood, developing expertise in AC and HVDC transmission. Notably, Andrew has led significant projects, including NB Power’s Colson Cove Refurbishment Project and NLH’s Labrador Island Link HVDC Project.

Currently, Andrew focuses on Business Development and Senior Consulting, leveraging his technical oversight, project management, and business development skills to drive success. He has successfully established a project office in Fredericton, NB, and recruited key talent in the Maritimes. With his extensive experience working with major utilities in Eastern Canada, Andrew is well-positioned to contribute significantly to the company’s growth and expansion.

Kyle is the Vice President of US Operations at Rising Edge Group. He leads our U.S. operations with a focus on sustainable growth, expanding our presence in high voltage and BESS markets, and strengthening the processes that empower our teams while keeping safety and employee wellbeing at the forefront. 

Kyle’s journey is nothing short of inspiring – he started as a laborer where he worked his way up through the trades into leadership roles including Superintendent, General Superintendent, Operations Manager, Director of Operations, and most recently, Senior Vice President with RES America. His hands-on experience gives him a unique perspective; he understands the demands of fieldwork and the importance of building with purpose. With over 18 years of experience, his leadership, vision, and integrity will have a tremendous impact on the company. 

Nicole is the Vice President of Human Resources at Rising Edge Group. A strategic and people-focused leader, she is dedicated to advancing initiatives that strengthen company culture, elevate talent attraction and engagement, and align workforce development with organizational growth. With a collaborative and strategic approach, Nicole is committed to ensuring that Rising Edge’s people remain the driving force behind the company’s continued growth and success.

With over 20 years of experience in the energy and utilities sectors, Nicole has held senior leadership roles with AltaGas Ltd, FortisAlberta, and AltaLink. She holds a Bachelor of Management in Human Resources and Industrial Relations from the University of Lethbridge, a Masters of Education from the University of Calgary and is a Chartered Professional in Human Resources (CPHR). Passionate about community impact, she also volunteers on various non-profit boards and committees, most recently with the SAIT School of Business Program Advisory Committee and the Calgary Winter Club.

Joining the Rising Edge team in 2025, Nicole provides executive leadership as we continue to build a culture that reflects the company’s mission and values. She will partner with the leadership team to shape our people strategy, build scalable frameworks to support company growth, drive strategic talent development initiatives, and foster a culture of inclusion and belonging that will further position Rising Edge as an employer of choice across North America.
